Sources: Cyriel Dessers set to join Rangers on five-year deal after £4.5m bid accepted
Rangers are closing in on a £4.5million deal for Cyriel Dessers after they had a bid accepted and he agreed a five-year contract, sources have told Football Insider.
The Cremonese striker is set to put pen to paper on a deal running until 2028 with a medical booked in to be completed.
The 28-year-old has been high on the Gers’ shortlist for some time as they put the finishing touches on an agreement.
The deal has not put the Gers off Feyenoord striker Danilo for whom they have already reportedly had one bid rejected.
Last month (12 June), Football Insider, revealed that the Light Blues were pursuing a deal to sign Dessers and had begun talks with the Italian side.
It was initially believed £5m would be enough to secure the striker but Football Insider has learned that £4.5m has sealed the deal for Michael Beale’s side.

The Nigeria international’s current contract at Cremonese runs until 2027 after he put pen to paper on a five-year deal when he signed from Genk last summer.
The attacker scored ten goals in 32 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign.
Beale is looking to add another goalscorer to his ranks following the departure of Alfredo Morelos after his contract expired this month.
Dessers will become Rangers’ sixth summer signing in what has been a very busy summer already, following the captures of Sam Lammers, Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling and Abdallah Sima.
The striker was an integral part of the Light Blues’ success in recent years and became their top European goalscorer, netting four goals in their run to the Europa League final despite missing out on the latter half of the campaign through injury.
Morelos made 269 appearances for the Gers during his time at the club, netting 124 goals and offering up 58 assists in those outings.
