Sources: Steven Gerrard makes move to sign Rangers star Scott Wright
Al Ettifaq have made a concrete move for Rangers winger Scott Wright, sources have told Football Insider.
Steven Gerrard is their new manager and keen on his former player.
Wright could follow in the footsteps of Celtic winger Jota whose move to Saudi was confirmed on 3 July.
The same firm of representatives behind Jota’s spectacular record-breaking transfer from Celtic to Al Ittihad are also working on finding a solution for Scott Wright, who is seeking more regular game time than he has seen recently since Michael Beale’s return to Ibrox.
The 25-year-old’s current contract with the The Gers runs until 2025 after he joined from Aberdeen.
But the winger has found a spot in the starting XI hard to come by under both former boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst and current manager Beale.

Of his 21 Scottish Premiership appearances last season, Wright was only in the starting lineup for five of those outings and played a total of less than 600 minutes.
Since his arrival in Glasgow, the former Scotland under-21 international has made 84 appearances across all competitions, netting eight goals and offering up seven assists. He also scored the winner in the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts last year.
Former Gers boss Gerrard was announced as the new manager of Al Ettifaq on Monday (3 July) and is the latest big name to make the switch to Saudi.
The Saudi Pro League side finished seventh in their last campaign with 37 points from 30 games.
The Liverpool legend helped guide Rangers to their first Scottish Premiership title in ten years in the 2020-21 season before taking over at Aston Villa in November 2021.
