Alex Lowry backed to agree Rangers move after source's reveal - expert

Alex Lowry has been backed to leave Rangers on loan next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said Lowry is “the future” of the Glasgow club.

On 28 July, Football Insider revealed that Tranmere Rovers have registered their interest in signing the 20-year-old on loan for the upcoming campaign.

The midfielder’s current contract runs until 2025 after moving up from the B team last summer.

The Ibrox club snubbed loan offers for Lowry in the January window but could now be willing to sanction a temporary move to improve his minutes.

When asked if staying in Scotland would be better than a loan move to England, Hutton told Football Insider:I think you just have to wait and see and look at all your options.

I think he is a very technical player so he would have to go into a team that suits his abilities. I think that is the key, it does not matter whether it is England or Scotland.

I think he is one for the future for Rangers so they are always going to keep an eye on his progress. I think it will be difficult for him this year to break in.

I do think he is a fantastic footballer but I think it will take a bit of time before there is an opportunity for him to be a regular.

Moving away and playing week in week out, with a view to come back, is probably the best thing for him at the moment. Ultimately it has to be the right team for him.
