Sources: Big update on Chelsea beating Man City to Olise deal
Chelsea have a concrete interest in bringing former youth star Michael Olise back to the club, sources have told Football Insider.
Crystal Palace would be powerless to resist approaches for the 21-year-old if the Blues activate his £35million release clause.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (24 July) that Palace star Olise is also the subject of genuine interest from treble winners Man City.
It is believed Pep Guardiola’s side see him as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who is expected to complete a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.
If both clubs activate the attacking midfielder’s £35million buyout clause, it will come down to a personal decision for the France Under-21 international.
Olise is currently out injured with a hamstring problem he picked up at the Under-21 European Championships – but his fitness is not expected to hamper a potential Selhurst Park exit.

Left-footed right-winger Olise notched two goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions last season.
He was on the youth books at both Man City and Chelsea before leaving for first-team football at Reading.
The London-born talent, 21, enjoyed two good seasons with the Royals before joining Crystal Palace in 2021 – where he has since established himself as one of the league’s most exciting starlets.
An exit for Olise would come as a huge blow for Crystal Palace – who look set to lose Wilfried Zaha to Galatasaray following the expiry of his contract last month.
Chelsea have already spent big money on Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Angelo this summer.
Meanwhile, Man City are yet to make a summer addition.
