Tottenham backed to land James Maddison and teammate in £100m double deal - expert
Tottenham need to double their offer for Leicester City stars James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton suggested that the Lilywhites’ opening bid of £50m for the pair was shy of what the Foxes will want.
On Sunday (18 June), Football Insider revealed that Leicester are set to reject a double bid from the London club for Barnes and Maddison of £50m.
The figure is significantly shy of the Foxes’ valuation with the newly relegated side set to reject the offer.
Maddison has a year left on his contract at the King Power Stadium whilst Barnes’ deal runs until 2025.
Hutton wasn’t surprised by Spurs’ offer but insisted Leicester will be looking for much more.

“I would say it is a little bit short,” he told Football Insider.
“It is arguably two of Leicester’s best players. I know they have been relegated and this always happens, teams try to pick off the best players.
“I think both will leave but it is just about getting the right figure.
“I am pretty sure both of them last season would have been around about £50m each. It will come down ever so slightly but I think £50m is a little bit shy of what Leicester would be wanting.
“Tottenham are going to go in with a low offer to see if they can get them cheaper but I do think those two players will be on the move.“
