Tottenham expert suggests statement 'from top of the club' amid 'serious' development

A Tottenham director or senior official must face the media and explain the club’s long-term strategy.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham suffered a first home loss to Arsenal in nine years on Sunday (15 January).

Mikel Arteta’s side blew Spurs away in the first half and won the game 2-0, condemning Spurs to a fourth defeat in their last five home games, leading to fresh criticism of Conte’s methods.

As per the Evening Standard (17 January), Conte called on club chiefs to face the press and explain the club’s strategy.

Wenham is expecting someone from the club to face the media soon, or at least a statement to be released.

“Someone needs to say something,”

“Right now we look like a club with no direction. We never hear from the guys at the top. We are getting this Paratici statement soon but that’s more to do with the transfer stuff, of which there has been nothing so far.

“I want to know what the plan is. We have a manager who is out of contract at the end of the season and even though we can extend his contract, we haven’t.

“We haven’t signed anyone and we have a squad that looks woefully unequipped to get us into the top four. The squad has actually regressed despite spending money.

“So what is the plan? What’s the aim? What are we trying to do? Send someone to face the press, release a statement, someone from the top needs to face up.

“We, as fans, deserve it because there are serious concerns about how bad this could get now.

“I’ll not write us out of the top four race but it’s hard to see it right now.”
