Expert: Tottenham have 'big problems' after Hugo Lloris blow

Tottenham have “big problems” after failing to sign a new goalkeeper during the January transfer window.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Lloris, 36, made his latest high-profile mistake on 15 January’s North London Derby, pushing Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own net under little pressure.

As per Opta, the Spurs stopper has now made three errors leading directly to goals this season.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (28 January) that Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Everton star Jordan Pickford ahead of a potential summer move.

Wenham insists a new keeper had to arrive during January.

“There is one other thing I wanted to touch on and that’s the goalkeeper situation,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

The form and decline of Hugo Loris could not go on and a new goalkeeper had to be signed within this window, that didn’t happen.

“We are now in a situation where, Lloris is a legend of football, but the decline is so stark that it is a risk to have him carry on in goal.

“The alternative is Fraser Forster who is not good enough to be a starter for us. We have big problems in the goalkeeping department.

Lloris has made 442 appearances for Tottenham since signing for the club from Lyon in 2013.

He has played in the last two World Cup finals, winning the 2018 edition of the competition.

In other news, an expert has told Tottenham to U-turn on Brentford’s David Raya and sign 22-year-old instead after update.
