Tottenham expert 'surprised' after Harry Kane transfer update - 'I didn't see it coming'
It is a “surprise” that Harry Kane is open to signing a new Tottenham contract amid interest from Man United.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 23 January, David Ornstein reported that Kane, 29, is open to the idea of extending his stay at Tottenham.
The striker has entered the final 18 months of the six-year deal he signed in June 2018.
The Daily Mail reported on 20 January that Man United are considering making a move for Kane in the summer.
Wenham was surprised to hear such a positive update about Kane potentially signing a new deal.

“I was a little bit surprised because the latest reports were that Man United were interested in signing him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“The only positive news we were getting was out of Germany. We kept getting these reports that a transfer to Bayern Munich is out of reach and that he would not be going there.
“The talk was then that he wanted to stay in England and that sparked fresh rumours about a move to Man United.
“It really ramped up after that. But it does seem like something positive has gone on behind the scenes with Harry.
“Could it be something as simple as his wife doesn’t want to move their whole family to Manchester? We don’t know at this stage.
“It does seem like something positive has happened behind the scenes and Harry is more positive about staying at Tottenham now.
“So we will take that and hopefully Kane will renew his contract. I didn’t see it coming, this update.
“If we win the FA Cup this year, which would be my dream, then that becomes a lot easier.”
