Tottenham expert issues 'unbelievable' Emerson Royal verdict after 'unexpected' development
Emerson Royal’s form for Tottenham may mean Pedro Porro is left waiting for his debut for at least another week.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Royal turned in a man-of-the-match performance as Tottenham beat Man City 1-0 on Sunday (5 February).
His performance meant January deadline day signing Porro was unable to make it onto the pitch.
Wenham claims the right-back may now not get a look-in next week either.
“Myself and 99.9% of Tottenham fans have been underwhelmed with Royal ever since we signed him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s only fair that when he plays out of his skin, we recognise that. He was absolutely unbelievable against Man City.
“Jack Grealish was their best player and Emerson did an absolute job on him. So fair play to the boy he was so tenacious in the tackle.
“He got in front of everything and won every battle. These are things I have not said about him before. He was also offering us something going forward.
“It was one of his best performances for Tottenham, for sure, it was so unexpected. You have to wonder if he was spurred on by the signing of Pedro Porro.
“He’s seen someone come in and Doherty leave, so now he’s thinking he has to up his game if he is going to stay at the club.
“His performance against City proved that he should be starting the next game as well.”
