Pundit issues 'really worrying' Man City verdict after what he's seen in person

Man City have multiple off-field problems that are hampering their chances of chasing down Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Man City lost 1-0 to Tottenham on Sunday (5 February) as they failed to gain ground on league leaders Arsenal.

Joao Cnacelo and Ruben Dias were benched while Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake started the game but failed to stop Harry Kane from becoming Spurs’ all-time record goalscorer.

Wenham, who attended the game in person, was left unimpressed with the defending champions.

“I was totally underwhelmed,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I just don’t understand the decision with the centrebacks, I thought that was incredible, to be honest. You have so many better options on the bench.

“Gundogan has been such an important player for them for the past two or three years so for him to only come on right at the end of the game was very strange.

“It seems like there are a lot of things going on at Man City at the moment. In what world is Cole Palmer on the bench and Foden isn’t?

“De Bruyne didn’t start as well, that is becoming a regular occurrence when they play Tottenham. I’m not sure why they are leaving the best player in the league out of the side to accommodate us but there you go.

“They do not seem like the Man City of old and that is really worrying for them.

“It’s also really worrying for me as a Tottenham fan because I need them to catch Arsenal at the top of the league.”
