Pundit issues 'grim' Newcastle United prediction after Bruno Guimaraes development
Newcastle United’s reliance on Bruno Guimaraes could cost them Champions League qualification this season.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Newcastle are yet to win a Premier League game this season in which Guimaraes has not featured.
The Brazilian midfielder will miss the Magpies’ next two games, against Bournemouth and Liverpool, after receiving a straight red card against Southampton in the second leg of his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final (31 January).
Wenham insists Newcastle’s failure to break teams down without Guimaraes in the side could cost them in the second half of the season.
“Look at that Newcastle game against West Ham last weekend, Bruno wasn’t playing,” Wenham told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“There were very few chances for them in that game until Anthony Gordon came on. They were really missing that creative spark in midfield.
“They won’t have it for the next few games either so there is a good chance Newcastle won’t win their next couple of games, which is a grim thought for them considering one of the games is against Bournemouth.
“Luckily he is back for the cup final because they wouldn’t have a hope of beating Man United without Guimaraes in the side.
“For Tottenham and Man United, I think teams have worked out that if you stop Guimaraes you stop Newcastle.
“There are other quality players in that side but they look lost without Guimaraes in there.
“I do think it will cost them.”
