Tottenham expert fumes after 'disastrous' Nile John development

Tottenham need to rethink their loan system after Nile John’s “disastrous” loan spell at Charlton Athletic.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Charlton confirmed they had loaned John, 18, for the rest of the season on 27 January.

However, he has failed to make an appearance for the club, instead, playing for their Under 23s.

He has made the bench for four League One fixtures but Wenham has been left fuming with how the loan is going.

“It’s a very frustrating loan spell,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“When I see him playing in their Under 23s, which is a worse Under 23s league than the one he was playing in for us, it just seems like a waste of time.

“Sometimes with loan moves, I feel they can be beneficial even if the player doesn’t kick a ball.

“You are training with the men’s team and playing with better players, you grow up.

“Nile is already 19 and from what I understand he isn’t even making the matchday squad.

“It has been a disastrous loan move so far and Tottenham really need to rethink what they do with him next season.

“I’m scratching my head as to why he can’t get in that team.”

John has made 14 appearances in the Premier League 2 this season, scoring seven goals.

He also has two senior Spurs appearances to his name.
