Newcastle offer 'very tempting' for Orta - Leeds pundit
Paul Robinson has suggested Leeds sporting director Victor Orta would be “very tempted” by an offer from Newcastle United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds and Spurs goalkeeper said Orta “is very highly regarded” and could be a good fit for the Magpies given his experience in the Championship and Premier League.
According to Football Insights (26 November), Newcastle chiefs have “discussed” Spaniard Orta as a potential director football candidate.
The Twitter account, which is followed by the Telegraph’s John Percy and Sky Sports’ George Elek, regularly breaks news ahead of major outlets.
Orta joined the set-up at Elland Road in May 2017 and helped mastermind the Yorkshire club’s return to the Premier League.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “Orta is proven.

“He is proven in his recruitment at both Championship and Premier League level.
“Victor is very highly regarded. He has done a good job at Leeds.
“It would be a good challenge for him, going to Newcastle. The job at Newcastle has many stages. Right now, it’s about trying to keep them in the Premier League.
“They need players who can get them out of that situation. They need to sign very wisely in January.
“From Orta’s point of view, to have that level of money as a sporting director would be very tempting. It would be an attraction for anybody.”
