McLeish suggests Goldson being offered 'double your money' deal by English club in Rangers blow
Alex McLeish has suggested Connor Goldson may have had his head turned as Rangers set their “stance” on a possible new contract.
The former Gers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed clubs or agents may be promising the 28-year-old a “double your money” deal to leave Ibrox.
Speaking at the club’s AGM on Tuesday (30 November), as relayed by Sky Sports, Ross Wilson insisted the Light Blues would not break their “clear wage structure” in contract negotiations.
Goldson is out of contract at the end of the season and stated in October any new deal would have to be “right for me and my family”.
McLeish insisted Rangers have made their stance very clear but suggested their offer should be enough to make Goldson “very, very happy”.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It looks like they’re making a kind of stance there. Why shouldn’t they?

“I’m sure Connor’s at a good level of financial wages at the moment. Okay, I think there may possibly be people in his ear saying: ‘Come to us. We’ll double your money,’ or whatever.
“You don’t know, you just don’t know. Possibly, he craves a move back to England, I don’t know what’s in Connor’s head.
“I’m pretty sure Rangers will give him a deal that he is very, very happy with.
“He’s been an ever-present and he’s got to think about playing out his career. Do you go and maybe be a squad player?
“Are you confident you can go to a higher status of division, like the Premier League, and play every week?”
Goldson has played 186 times for Rangers since joining from Brighton.
He has 24 appearances under his belt this season.
