Sources: Chelsea January priority signing revealed
Chelsea are keen to add a new striker in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed a forward has been made the “priority” by the club’s transfer chiefs after a poor start to the season.
The Blues have picked up just five points from a possible 18 in the Premier League this term, scoring five goals in the process.
Those struggles come with marquee summer signing Christopher Nkunku still on the treatment table after he picked up a serious injury in pre-season.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (26 September) that Nkunku’s continued absence is seen as a devastating blow by the club’s coaches.
The former RB Leipzig star, who cost a reported £52million, is expected to be out of action until the end of the year.

Fellow summer signing Nicolas Jackson is currently leading the line for Chelsea but is struggling to make an impact for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The Senegal international scored in the 1-0 win over Brighton in League Cup action on Wednesday (27 September), but has managed just one other strike in the Premier League.
To add insult to injury, Jackson is suspended for the derby clash with Fulham next week (2 October) after accruing five yellow cards.
He managed 13 goals and five assists in 38 games for Villarreal last season.
The last Chelsea striker to hit 20 goals in the Premier League was Diego Costa in the 2016-17 campaign.
Kai Havertz, last season’s top scorer with seven top-flight strikes, has departed for Arsenal in a big-money summer deal.
