'He is the one I'd pay money for' - Exclusive: McAvennie in awe of transformed Rangers player

Frank McAvennie has hailed Ryan Jack as the one player at Rangers he believes is worth a big transfer fee.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the Celtic legend has been blown away by the transformation of the midfielder and claimed he has come on leaps and bounds in the last year.

Jack, 28, joined Rangers from Aberdeen in 2017 and took some time to find his feet in Glasgow.

But McAvennie is in no doubt he has developed into a big asset for club and country, suggesting teammate Steven Davis has played a big part in his improvement.

“The biggest breakthrough for Rangers this season has been Ryan Jack,” McAvennie told Football Insider. “Last season I said he should not be included in the Scotland squad and I did not think he was ready.

“But this year, what a difference. He is a different player. Davis has been a great
influence beside him, older head, experienced and he has told him where to go. How to conduct himself on and off the park.

“I am a great one for telling people how to conduct themselves off the park! But in the modern game it is about representing your club. It is a big factor.

“Davis has looked after Jack and for me, he is the best player Rangers have got at the moment. He is the one that I would pay money for. Jack not Morelos. He has come on a lot.”

Jack has made 105 appearances in three seasons for Rangers, including 38 in the recently-terminated campaign.

The arrival of Davis last year allowed him to be pushed forward into a more advanced central midfield role.

In other Rangers news, this is the task facing Rangers to sign lifelong Ger who Boyd claims can stop Celtic title.
