'Disgraceful' - Exclusive: McAvennie slaughters West Ham substitutes v Spurs

Frank McAvennie has slated David Moyes for his substitutions as West Ham lost  2-0 for the second consecutive match on Tuesday.

The former Upton Park striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, heavily criticised the performance of Felipe Anderson who he claimed he had never seen go in for a tackle.

An own goal from Tomas Soucek and a late strike from Harry Kane compounded the Hammers to their second loss since the restart and hanging precariously above the relegation zone.

In the 71st minute, with the score at 1-0, David Moyes made a double change – Felipe Anderson replacing captain Mark Noble and Manuel Lanzini replacing Pablo Fornals.

McAvennie disapproved of both decisions made by the manager.

“I think we could have got something out of the game against Spurs,” he told Football Insider.

“I am sorry David Moyes but the two substitutions were disgraceful.

“He brought Noble off and put Anderson on. I have never seen Anderson go in for a tackle. People say they have never seen him win a tackle, well I have never seen him go in for a tackle. Genuinely. He pulls out of challenges and that is just wrong.

“Lanzini is a good player but there is something not right with him.

“They miss Snodgrass because he at least gives effort. I really do fear for them, I really do.”

Robert Snodgrass is expected to be out for a lengthy period with a possible disc problem in his back.

The Hammers return to the London Stadium this weekend to take on Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.

In other West Ham news, Noel Whelan has told Football Insider where he sees Declan Rice’s future.
