Rangers fans out of order as images emerge - 'that is not right,' says pundit

Rangers fans choosing to support England over Scotland is out of order.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie couldn’t believe there were Gers fans in the away end of Hampden for Tuesday’s nights friendly match between the home nations.

In images shared by the Sun (13 September) a fan was spotted in the England support holding a Union Jack flag with the word Rangers on it.

The Three Lions cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory in the 150th anniversary match between the sides thanks to goals from Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane.

McAvennie couldn’t believe Rangers fans would be supporting England over their own country.

“I do not agree with people from Scotland supporting England,” he told Football Insider.

I get that it is Britain but you do not support England when they are playing against Scotland. It is just a load of nonsense you should be supporting your team.

There are a lot of West Ham fans who support Rangers, a lot of Chelsea fans who support Rangers so it could have been them because I would hate to think Rangers fans were against Scotland the other night.

Going against your country that is not right whether you support Celtic or Rangers because they will all be there when they go to Germany.

Scotland took another step towards Euro 2024 qualification on Friday night with a 3-0 win over Cyprus.

Steve Clarke’s side have now won all five of their games so far and are just a two point swing away from a confirmed spot in the competition.
