'Liverpool have just completed the signing of the year' - Szoboszlai claim made by pundit
Liverpool have signed an incredible player who can be a “world beater” in the shape of Dominik Szoboszlai.
That is the verdict of ex-West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, who is in no doubt about the calibre of the summer arrival from RB Leipzig.
Szoboszlai, 22, has started all five of Liverpool’s Premier League matches since his arrival in a £60million deal and played a key role in the team topping the league table after Saturday’s 3-1 Premier League win at Wolves.
The Hungary international drove Jurgen Klopp’s side forward in the second half at Molineux after a ragged first-half display from the visitors, and they eventually proved good value for their win.
“I wasn’t expecting him to be this good,” McAvennie told Football Insider. “What a player he is – big, athletic, great feet, mobile, two footed. He’s incredible, everything you could want in a midfielder.
“In fact, he’s so good he could play anywhere. Put him at centre-back and he’d probably deliver a Rolls-Royce performance.

“I haven’t seen a better signing by any club this summer, in the Premier League or anywhere else. He’s an absolute beast and should be huge for Liverpool for a long time.
“They have just completed the signing of the year”.
Klopp has rotated his players in the new campaign and Szoboszlai is one of only three players, along with Alisson and Andrew Robertson, to have completed all five matches to date.
That is a telling statistic of the impact he has made, as well as the value he provides from his versatile midfield role.
