Pundit makes 'huge' Man United claim after shattering takeover update

The Glazers are trying to “tarnish” the name of Man United by refusing to sell up and leaving fans in limbo.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie feels sorry for the club’s supporters but insisted they shouldn’t turn against the players whilst issues with the owners are going on.

The Glazer family put the club up for sale last November and, at that time, were looking for around £5billion in order to part ways with the Red Devils.

The American owners have received bids from British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatar royalty Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad but are yet to accept either offer and have reportedly taken the club off the market.

The Glazers are believed to be planning to but the Manchester side back on sale in 2025 when they believe their valuation of £7-£10billion will be met.

McAvennie is worried for the club and its supporters as a result.

Man United are a huge, huge club and it seems like the Glazers are trying to tarnish that,” he told Football Insider.

I do not by any stretch of the imagination feel sorry for them but I just do not like seeing that happen to any club.

I loved playing against them, I loved scoring against them but I feel sorry for the fans because they deserve better than that and they deserve the Glazers to go.

They should not be turning against the players but they can go against the directors to try and get the owners out.
