McAvennie slates Ramsey as 'huge' new Rangers details emerge
Aaron Ramsey has no one to blame but himself for his Rangers flop.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Alan Hutton slammed Ramsey for blaming former manager Giovanni van Bronkchorst for his missed penalty in the Europa League final.
The Welshman was subbed on with just three minutes of extra time remaining and was the only player to miss a spot kick during the shootout in Frankfurt last year.
As quoted by the Daily Record (20 September), Ramsey suggested that Van Bronckhorst’s decision to wait until the dying moments of the game to bring him on piled the pressure and caused him to miss the penalty.
McAvennie couldn’t believe the former Gers’ comments.
“I will guarantee the manager asked him and he said yes,” he told Football Insider.

“It is a huge penalty decision and the manager would have asked him if he fancied taking one and he would have said yes. I will guarantee that.
“That is another big name that came up here, couldn’t hack it and now blaming everyone else.
“It was not Rangers’ fault that he missed the penalty. You can come on when you are not even fit and score a penalty, it is only a five yard run up.
“I have heard it all before whether it is Celtic or Rangers, they could not hack it but it is somebody else’s fault. There is no way the manager put him on without him agreeing to take one of the penalties.“
