Newcastle fans won't like what is about to happen at St James' Park - pundit
Newcastle United fans will turn on the club instantly if they do not get positive results from their upcoming games.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie said supporters will forgive their team for losing to Man City but insisted games against clubs like Sheffield United and Burnley are a must win.
Eddie Howe’s side held AC Milan to a 0-0 draw at the San Siro on Tuesday (19 September) in the opening match of their Champions League group stage.
But before Paris Saint-Germain travel to St James’ Park for match day two, the Magpies head to Yorkshire to take on Sheffield United on Sunday (24 September) before welcoming Man City in the cup on Wednesday (27 of September) followed by a visit from Burnley next Saturday.
McAvennie insisted the Magpies will need positive results in at least two of their upcoming fixtures.
“I think two out of three is not bad,” he told Football Insider.

“I think they will beat Sheffield United and they will beat Burnley and they will get beat by Man City which will lead them into the game against PSG.
“They have got to beat Burnley and Sheffield United. Playing against Man City, you get away with it but fans won’t like it if they get beat by Burnley or Sheff United.
“The players know that they have got to do well this year because next year they are going to be stepping up again.“
