Pundit drops intriguing Andre Onana claim after re-analysing 'embarrassing' Man United footage
Man United don’t regret axing David de Gea despite Andre Onana’s poor performances so far this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie said United needed a proven keeper between the sticks for this season.
Onana joined the Red Devils this summer to replace De Gea following the expiration of his contract.
United reportedly offered the Spaniard a new deal before U-turning on their decision and he departed Old Trafford after 12 years.
Onana has started between the sticks in every game for United so far this season and has conceded 15 goals in six appearances.
As shown on TNT Sports (20 September), the former Inter Milan goalkeeper made a massive error that led to Bayern Munich’s opening goal in their Champions League match on Wednesday night.

Onana went on to concede three more goals in a closely fought match that finished 4-3.
When asked if Erik ten Hag is regretting allowing De Gea to leave, McAvennie told Football Insider: “No.
“You only get rid of a good goalkeeper like De Gea if you have got somebody coming in who is better than him. You cannot have a project at Man United, that does not work.
“The goal last night was embarrassing but 4-3 would have been a great results if away goals still counted. Three goals away from home would have been a great result in the Champions League a few years ago.“
Last season Onana made 41 appearances for Inter and kept 19 clean sheets in those outings, letting in 36 goals.
