Pundit drops Eddie Howe sack verdict amid 'big' Newcastle United claim
Eddie Howe could be on the chopping block at Newcastle United in coming seasons.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie said Howe won’t be able to handle the “superstars” and “big names” that are about to arrive at St James’ Park.
The 45-year-old was appointed Newcastle boss in November 2021, shortly after the completion of their takeover by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.
The Englishman has been in charge of 81 matches and has been on the winnnig side for 41 of those outings, drawn 20 and lost 20.
Howe has endured a tricky start to the 2023-24 season with three wins from the opening six games but led his team to an 8-0 victory against Sheffield United on Sunday (24 September).
McAvennie is hopeful the new owners will stick with Howe for the foreseeable future.

“I hope Eddie Howe stays for a couple more years,” he told Football Insider.
“They are talking about getting a top, top manager in but I do not think they need that yet. They have not got any superstars in the team that need managed.
“I do not think Eddie could handle having superstars in the team. He is a great guy so maybe I am wrong but they are going to be buying huge players.
“They will be the next Man City in the next few years. I am glad Eddie is getting a fair crack at the whip.”
