Rangers profit from major injustice as Abdallah Sima footage analysed - pundit

Rangers have benefitted from a major injustice after Abdallah Sima’s opening goal against Livingston was allowed to stand.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie couldn’t believe that VAR official Nick Walsh did not instruct Willie Collum to rewatch the incident between Abdallah Sima and Jamie Brandon.

As shown on Viaplay Sports (27 September), Sima opened the scoring at Ibrox with a right-footed strike but appeared to push Brandon to the ground in the lead up to the goal.

VAR official Walsh took another look at the incident but did not feel Collum had made a clear and obvious error on the field and the goal was allowed to stand.

Livingston went on to lose the game 4-0 and be knocked out of the Viaplay Cup for this season.

When asked what he made of the decision, McAvennie told Football Insider:

It was embarrassing,” he told Football Insider.

We can all have a laugh about it but at the end of the day it was a shove. Why did the VAR official not tell him to have a look at it?

Fair enough Willie Collum could have missed it but why is Nick Walsh not telling him to have a look at that. I would be saying the exact same if it was Celtic. It was a blatant shove and that could have changed the game.

I feel sorry for Livingston because the heads went down once the goal went in.
