Hutton excited by Rangers manager latest after source's reveal
Rangers will be “sparked into life” with a new manager and change of ideas in the dressing room.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton had thought Michael Beale would be on the chopping block following their 5-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven that put them out of the Champions League.
Beale was sacked by the Gers on Sunday (1 October), following a 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen and their third loss in seven games so far this season.
The club confirmed that club legend Steven Davis will be taking over as interim manager until they can make a permanent appointment.
On 2 October, Football Insider revealed that the Gers have not given up hopes of luring Graham Potter to Ibrox as they set their sights on an A-list manager to replace Beale.
When asked if he thought the Gers were right to remove Beale from his post so early in the season, Hutton told Football Insider: “After what happened in the PSV games I was thinking maybe he would have gone then but they still needed to give him an opportunity.

“They did need time to gel, there was a lot of new signings but it was coming to the stage where that period is over, they should be used to this sort of atmosphere and playing in big games and having that winning mentality. It has not quite hit the heights that he was hoping for.
“For me I think they have had the time to bed in and it is now about producing and it has just not quite worked out. Maybe a change of ideas, change of face, could spark them into life.”
