Brendan Rodgers told to 'speak to Celtic coaches' as crippling injury list grows - expert
Celtic have a huge problem with injuries and Brendan Rodgers needs to “have words” with his coaches.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie suggested that the problems within the squad could be a result of what’s happening on the training ground.
Celtic’s current injury list includes Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh, Liel Abada, with loanee Nat Phillips fit enough to make the bench, and get some minutes, in Saturday’s win over Motherwell.
Carter-Vickers is not expected to return until after the next international break whilst goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist, who joined from Dundee United last summer, has also had his share of injury problems and has struggled to make a mark on the first team.
McAvennie can’t understand the side’s lengthy injury list, especially when it comes to new signings.
“I do not know what it is with Celtic,” he told Football Insider.

“They bring people in and then they get injured. Siegrist is a really good keeper but he seems to be injured all the time. They brought in Phillips from Liverpool and he gets injured.
“Maybe Brendan has got to have a word with the staff. It is happening too often now so maybe Rodgers needs to speak to the coaches.
“Siegrist is a wonderful keeper and I wouldn’t have a problem with him taking over from Joe Hart but he is not fit enough, he is always injured.“
