Sources: Wan-Bissaka gets Man United career back on track after Ten Hag U-turn

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is seen as integral to Erik ten Hag’s plans at Man United as contract talks get underway, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (9 October) that the Red Devils are in talks with right-back, 25, over a new deal at Old Trafford.

Wan-Bissaka is currently out of contract at the end of the season – although the Red Devils hold the option to extend his deal a further 12 months.

But it is believed that player and club are in discussions over a completely new, long-term deal which would see the defender commit his future to Man United.

This development represents a significant U-turn for Ten Hag, who initially declined to select Wan-Bissaka upon his arrival at the club.

He played just four minutes in the Premier League prior to last season’s mid-season World Cup break.

However, he won Ten Hag over in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign and became a regular starter as Man United secured a third-place finish.

The London-born ace made 34 appearances across all competitions last term, notching one assist.

Wan-Bissaka has already played five times in the new season but has been a big miss for Ten Hag during his time out with a hamstring injury.

He has missed the last six games.

The ex-Crystal Palace ace cost Man United a reported £50million in 2019 – and has gone on to make 165 appearances for the club, scoring twice.

Formerly an international for England’s Under-21 side, Wan-Bissaka is yet to make a senior appearance for the Three Lions.
