Kieran Maguire: Man United have ignored the glaring Jadon Sancho 'red flags'
Man United decided to sign Jadon Sancho despite there being ‘red flags’ about his behavior at Borussia Dortmund and Man City.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about United’s ongoing issues with the 23-year-old winger.
The Red Devils released a club statement on Thursday stating that Sancho will train away from the first-team at Carrington due to a ‘discipline issue’.
Manager Erik ten Hag criticised Sancho for his training performances after leaving him out of the matchday squad against Arsenal, and the former Dortmund and City winger responded with a statement on social media claiming he was being made a ‘scapegoat’.
As reported by The Athletic, Sancho then refused to apologise to Ten Hag for his comments, resulting in him being cast out of United’s first-team training.
Maguire questioned the due diligence at United when it comes to analysing signings, suggesting that they ignored the ‘red flags’ from earlier in Sancho’s career.

“I think there has to be questions asked with regards to the due diligence at Man United,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“If anybody looks at Jadon Sancho’s history at Borussia Dortmund and earlier in his career, there is no doubting his footballing talent.
“But there have been red flags.
“You would normally have a thorough survey if you were buying a house, and that’s for a six-figure sum.
“If you’re buying an asset for £70m+, you’d expect a thorough analysis to be done.
“Either the analysis has not been performed well, or it has been performed but someone at Man United has decided to ignore it or overrule it.
“So trying to work out the strategy of the club is difficult but they’re not covering themselves in glory with continued issues with recruitment.
“A number of players have now left at significant losses such as Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba, while others stay at the club as no one is willing to match the wages on offer.“
