Kieran Maguire shares '£22m' Graham Potter payout reveal after Rangers sack update
Sacking Michael Beale could turn out to be an ‘expensive mistake’ for Rangers.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Magure, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the financial impact of sacking Beale at Ibrox.
Beale finds himself under pressure at Rangers after suffering two losses in the club’s opening five league fixtures.
The Scottish giants also missed out on Champions League qualification after falling short in their play-off tie against PSV Eindhoven.
Beale has only been at Rangers for a year after he replaced Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Ibrox in June 2022.
Rangers reportedly paid a £1.5million release clause to hire Beale from QPR last summer.

Maguire believes manager release clauses and compensation fees are becoming an ‘increasing feature’ in football, and believes Rangers will have one eye on their budget after missing out on the Champions League.
“Rangers did well when Steven Gerrard went to Aston Villa in terms of compensation, and that didn’t work out for Aston Villa,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“I think it shows that transferring managers is just as precarious as transferring players, and there are no guarantees regardless of the transfer fee.
“Chelsea, for example, paid £22million to Brighton for Graham Potter.
“So this does appear to be an increasing feature of the game in terms of the release fees.
“But if you get it wrong, it can be an expensive mistake.
“And coupled with not getting into the Champions League, it’s going to have an impact upon the overall budget of Glasgow Rangers.
“The club is aiming to make itself sustainable on a long-term basis so this will be a further challenge to that ambition.“
