Kieran Maguire reveals Newcastle United profit from £100m Guimaraes clause
Newcastle United have put a ‘barrier’ in place by inserting a £100million release clause in Bruno Guimaraes’ new deal.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Guimaraes’ clause will put off European clubs that are focusing on trying to sign young players.
The 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder is reportedly close to signing a new deal at St James’ Park worth £120,000 per week, making him one of the top earners at the club.
Guimaraes’ new deal, which is set to run until 2028, will also include a £100million release clause.
The Brazil international joined Newcastle for £40million from Lyon in January 2022.
Maguire revealed the significant profit coming Newcastle’s way if Guimaraes’ release clause is triggered in the next few years.

“Given that Guimaraes is now a few years into his contract, his accounting value is significantly less than the initial fee that they paid for him,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“So it’s gonna be probably about 85 to 90 per cent profit if he went in a couple of years.
“I do think that price is a potential barrier because many European clubs in particular are looking to sign players who are young.
“At the same time, if he’s as good as everybody thinks he is, we’ve seen Harry Harry Kane go for £100 million.
“There’s no reason why teams couldn’t do the same and trigger Guimaraes’ contract clause.“
