Tottenham transfer news: Reguilon transfer collapses as Arsenal deal agreed - sources

Sergio Reguilon’s transfer from Tottenham to Real Sociedad has collapsed after extensive talks, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs have been working on a deal to find a new club for the left-back, who is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

Reguilon has been in negotiations to join Sociedad but the move has now fallen through after they reached an agreement to sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal.

The Scottish left-back has been granted permission to head to Spain on Saturday to undergo a medical and sign for the La Liga club.

Both defenders have fallen down the pecking order at their respective clubs and have been looking for moves away this summer.

Reguilon’s current contract runs until 2025 but he spent last season on loan with Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

The 26-year-old made 12 appearances across all competitions and played just over 300 minutes of first team football.

The defender had been a regular feature for Spurs after his arrival from Real Madrid in 2020 but has fallen out of favour as the seasons have gone on and is now unlikely to be part of Postecoglou’s plans moving forward.

The Spaniard has made 67 appearances since his arrival in 2020, over half of those coming in his first full season with the club.

So far this season Postecoglou has opted for Destiny Udogie at left-back who spent last season on loan with Italian side Udinese.
