Sources: Man United two-man shopping list revealed

Man United are eyeing moves for a winger and central midfielder in the January window following a poor start to the new season, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (2 October) that manager Erik ten Hag has already set his sights on a number of potential mid-season signings.

This news comes after Man United lost four of their opening seven Premier League games this term – leaving them 10th in the table.

The saga surrounding Jadon Sancho has sprung another challenge for Ten Hag, who has had to contend with several key injuries already this season.

Sancho and the Dutchman have fallen out over a public spat about the winger’s training levels – and Football Insider revealed last month (18 September) that the manager is demanding a public apology before he can be restored to the side.

Club chiefs are drawing up a shortlist of potential winger targets in the event the England international is not reintegrated at Old Trafford.

Antony has also been unavailable for Ten Hag in recent games due to his assistance in police inquiries into allegations of abuse against him – but has since returned to training.

Meanwhile, central midfield is also seen as key on the January agenda despite the summer signings of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount.

Both players have struggled with injury problems so far in the 2023-24 campaign.

Mount cost a reported fee of £55million, while Amrabat arrived on a loan-to-buy basis from Fiorentina.

Man United are next in action against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday (3 October) before facing Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday (7 October).
