Sources: Rangers sound out Graham Potter as new Michael Beale doubts emerge
Rangers have a strong interest in Graham Potter and have tentatively sounded him out as a potential replacement for current boss Michael Beale, sources have told Football Insider.
The Ibrox board have been unconvinced by Beale since he took over as manager in November of last year following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The pressure has intensified on the former QPR manager in the wake of a calamitous week in which Rangers were eliminated from the Champions League at the final qualification stage and lost to Celtic at Ibrox in the first Old Firm of the campaign.
It is believed that Potter is a top target for the Gers as they explore potential replacements if results under Beale do not improve.
Discussions have been held via third parties although sources stress that the club’s interest is at the early stage.
Potter, 48, has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in April after just 31 games at the helm.

His reputation in the game remains high following a hugely impressive spell at Brighton and it has been reported that the Englishman turned down the chance to take over Ligue 1 side Lyon in the summer, deciding it was not the right time for him to move back into management.
The first whispers are emerging at Rangers that the club hierarchy are not entirely happy with Beale following a vast summer overhaul.
There were nine new arrivals into the squad and almost £15million was spent on transfers.
Results have failed to live up to the investment in players, with supporters critical not only of the team’s results but also the performances.
Beale had a successful start to his Rangers managerial career, winning his first four matches in charge, after which he was named Scottish Premiership manager of the month for December.
But alarm bells are ringing following the defeats to PSV and a weakened Celtic side.
