Sources: Aston Villa ready to accept last-gasp Dendoncker offer
Fenerbahce are readying a last-gasp move for Aston Villa midfielder Leon Dendoncker before the Turkish window shuts on Friday (15 September), sources have told Football Insider.
The Villans have informed Dendoncker that he is free to quit the club in the coming days after he dropped down the pecking order Unai Emery.
The 28-year-old has been shortlisted by Fenerbahce as a central midfield option with Villa open either to a permanent move or a loan deal for the current campaign.
The Turkish Super Lig side’s intermediaries have held talks with the Belgian’s camp and although no offer has been made by the Turkish club as of yet, sources say a deal is possible.
The versatile midfielder joined the Villans from Wolves when Steven Gerrard was at the helm and cost the club £15million after their initial offer of £10m was rejected.
Dendoncker’s current contract runs until 2027 but he has struggled for game time, starting just nine Premier League games last term.

The midfielder has made just one appearance this term, a 21-minute cameo in Villa’s Europa Conference League qualifier against Hibernian.
Dendoncker was left out of the squad for the first leg of the qualifying round and was brought off the bench in the home tie with the club already 5-0 up on aggregate.
The Belgium international made 159 appearances for fellow top flight side Wolves, netting four goals and offering up four assists in those outings.
