'Tremendous...Great player' - Exclusive: Agbonlahor in awe of Spurs U23s starter today
Gabriel Agbonlahor has insisted Danny Rose is still a “great player” after he made his long-awaited Tottenham return today.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former Aston Villa forward claimed the England international, 30, is “100 per cent Premier League quality” and will get a move to a top-flight club.
Rose was surprisingly named as an over-age player in Spurs Under-23s’ 2-1 defeat to Derby County in his first outing for the club at any level since he joined Newcastle United on loan in January.
The left-back was joined in the side by youthful quartet Jack Clarke, Dennis Cirkin, Brandon Austin and Harvey White, who all travelled with the first team for the 3-1 Europa League win over Ludogorets in Bulgaria last night.
Rose has not been named in Spurs’ Premier League and Europa League squads, and has even failed to have been given a squad number this season.
Agbonlahor is a big fan of his longstanding former opponent Rose and is in no doubt he can still cut it at the top level.

“He’s 100% Premier League quality, he’s a great player,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.
“I think sometimes we’ve seen it with Jose with many teams he’s managed, when he goes into a club he has to pick a couple of players that he has to throw out and make an example of.
“It looks like Dele Alli and Danny Rose are the ones that he’s picked on this time.
“Danny Rose has had a tremendous career, multiple England caps, he’s been a great left-back for England and Spurs.
“He will get a club that wants to snap him up. So many players get through these tough times and come back stronger.”
In other news, Joe Lewis has given the green light for “mammoth” Tottenham deal as contract set to be signed before January window opens.
