'He has to change' - Exclusive: Agbonlahor rips into Leeds man after Rodgers reveal

Marcelo Bielsa is playing into the hands of opposition managers with his lack of tactical flexibility at Leeds United.

That is according to Gabriel Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about United following their third Premier League defeat in four matches.

Leeds were 3-1 down at half-time against Crystal Palace today and went on to lose 4-1 after similarly slipping to a 4-1 defeat on Monday night to Leicester City.

Bielsa’s side have also lost to Wolves and Liverpool this season as a bright start to the season has now given way for a harsh reality check.

Agbonlahor caused controversy last month after dubbing Leeds a “myth”, and has sparred with United fans on social media.

Asked by Football Insider if it is admirable that Leeds stick to their playing style no matter what and seemingly don’t have a plan ‘B’ following another shoddy defensive display at Selhurst Park, Agbonlahor replied: “For me, no. I feel you need to be able to play two different ways.

“We’ve seen Brendan Rodgers talk about it, that you need to play different styles of football.

“I’m sure if Leicester play against Crystal Palace at home, they’re not going to play with everyone behind the ball and play counter-attacking, they’re going to go for them and
maybe play Maddison rather than have him on the bench, you know.

“It’s different formations for different games. I feel like that’s something that Dean Smith will learn from recent results, that sometimes against teams you might have to change your style, you know.

For instance, against Leeds, I’m sure when Villa play Leeds next they might look at the way Leicester played and choose different tactics for different games with different styles of play.

“He’s new to the Premier League, he’s been a great manager in his career, but he has to change and adapt Leeds’ style at certain times.”
