Liverpool backed to complete 'statement signing' of Moises Caicedo - Agbonlahor
Liverpool sealing a deal for Moises Caicedo would push them over the edge in the race for Champions League qualification, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker claimed the Reds should pursue a move for the Brighton midfielder, 21, after generating the necessary funds by selling Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
Chelsea have been leading the chase for Caicedo all summer and have had multiple bids rejected by the Seagulls as they hold out for their £100million asking price.
However, Football Insider has revealed (2 August) that Liverpool have have been in contact with Brighton to register their interest in long-term target Caicedo as they desperately look to add to their midfield options.
There has yet to be clarity of the Ecuador international’s preferred destination, which may open the door for Liverpool to hijack a move.
It has been widely reported that the midfielder has refused to train with Brighton as he pushes for a move away from the Amex Stadium.

With a potential deal on the cards, Agbonlahor believes that Caicedo would take Liverpool to another level.
“It would definitely be a statement signing for sure,” he told Football Insider.
“Caicedo will go to which club actually wants to pay him.
“Maybe Liverpool making money by selling a few players, such as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, they may now have the money now to get that done.
“It would be an amazing signing.
“He could really be the one that gets Liverpool into the top four because I still think it’s gonna be a battle to get top four for them as it stands.”
