Postecoglou has made 'first and last mistake' at Tottenham as 'big loss' confirmed - Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Tottenham exiting the League Cup is a “big loss” for the club but insisted they will challenge for a top-six finish this term.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted changing his side for the cup clash with Fulham is the “first and last mistake” Ange Postecolgou will make at the Spurs helm.
Tottenham were dumped out of the League Cup in the second round after a penalty shoot-out loss against Fulham last week (29 August).
The competition provided a realistic chance at silverware for Spurs, who are not in any European competition following an eighth-place finish last season.
Postecoglou relied on the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Ivan Perisic, Ben Davies and Fraser Forster to beat Fulham and secure progression to the next round.
Spurs last won a trophy in 2008, lifting the League Cup after beating Chelsea at Wembley.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Going out of the League Cup, it’s a big loss for Spurs.
“I think picking some of the players Postecoglou did, it’s the first and last mistake he will make.
“He won’t do that again in a big game.
“But they’ve responded.
“If you look at the side that started against Burnley, it’s a top, top side. It’s definitely a team that would have beaten Fulham from the start.
“They would’ve washed them away.
“Ange will take the FA Cup seriously now, starting his best side. I think it’s going to be a successful season for Spurs.
“I can see them finishing in the top six, and I think they’ve got a chance of winning the FA Cup.”
