Pep Guardiola 'really annoyed' at Man City stars after confirmed news - pundit
Pep Guardiola is “really annoyed” at his Man City players for getting knocked out of the League Cup.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie insisted Guardiola wanted his team to lift the Carabao Cup trophy at the end of the season.
City exited the competition in the third round following a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday (27 September).
The loss to the Magpies not only ends Guardiola’s hopes of lifting the trophy following their two-year hiatus but also squashes all hopes of completing a quadruple this season.
As quoted by the Daily Mail (28 September), the City boss insisted that his aim for the season was not to lift four trophies.
Guardiola insisted his side were more than happy with completing the treble this term and were not aiming to go one better this time around.

But McAvennie insisted the Sky Blues boss will be disappointed to miss out on another trophy.
“I was not surprised to see Newcastle beat them,” he told Football Insider.
“I think Pep will be really annoyed, raging, because he wanted that trophy. I think he wants to win them all.
“He has won it a few times recently and it is what it is but I think that will have been one he was eyeing up.“
Since taking over in 2016, the Spaniard has won the league cup five times but the latest disappointment marks the third year in a row City will not be competing in the latter stages of the competition.
