Sources: Liverpool new plan for signing Hincapie revealed after talks
A potential Liverpool deal for Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie could have to wait until next summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (9 October) that the Reds are not likely to splash out on a move for 21-year-old in January despite his agent’s recent comments.
Hincapie’s representative, Manuel Sierra, has confirmed Liverpool were interested in the defender during the summer window – and are among a number of clubs in discussions over a January move.
He also claimed a possible deal could cost in the region of €50million (£43.25million).
However, it is believed a fee that large could prove too rich for Liverpool in the mid-season window after a big outlay in the off-season on stars like Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Merseysiders could return for the Ecuador international in 2024’s summer window.

Liverpool also have other targets as they vie to add a new left-sided defender to their ranks.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (6 October) that the Reds and Man United are keen on Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio – with the Portuguese side resigned to losing him in the near future.
Inacio has a release clause of £52million in his contract at Sporting.
Hincapie’s involvement in the 2023-24 campaign thus far has been limited.
The 21-year-old has made just one start in a possible 10 games for Leverkusen so far this term.
He can not only play as a centre-back, but also as a left-back – and did so regularly for the Bundesliga side last term.
He made 43 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, notching one goal and one assist.
