Aston Villa expert savages Youri Tielemans as new quotes emerge - 'look in the mirror'
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Youri Tielemans has no right to “demand” a starting berth at Aston Villa after “taking a year off” at Leicester last season.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 26-year-old will have to be “unbelievable” to keep a place in the side if he eventually gets his chance.
As quoted by Birmingham Live (8 September), Tielemans told reporters that his situation is “not pleasant” at Aston Villa.
The midfielder revealed he has told manager Unai Emery “I came to Villa to play” – and insisted the Spaniard’s response to the situation “doesn’t help me move forward”.
Tielemans has featured in all six of the club’s games so far this season but has managed just one start – which came in the Europa Conference League.
The Belgium international joined the Midlands giants on a free transfer in July after leaving relegated Leicester at the end of his contract.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I don’t think he can demand to be a nailed-on starter.
“He’s got to look in the mirror and realise he was in a team that got relegated last season.
“You’re not going to come straight into a team who have just got into the European places.
“It’s not going to happen. He’s not going to take someone’s position.
“What he has to do is take his chance if he comes off the bench or starts in the Europa Conference League games.
“Maybe the manager then keeps you in. The competition is high, and he’ll have to be unbelievable to stay in the side.
“If you ask any Villa fan, they wouldn’t start him in this side. Kamara and Luiz are outstanding, McGinn is the captain – and Jacob Ramsey is coming back from injury and offers the legs.
“When you decide to take a year off like he did at Leicester last season, it’s going to be really difficult for him.
“He can’t expect to come straight in and start for a team who finished seventh.”
