Agbonlahor can't believe Arsenal could sign Ivan Toney in January after new twist

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Arsenal are “sorted” in attack and do not need to make a January move for in-demand Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 27-year-old is most suited to a move to Chelsea or Tottenham.

According to the Daily Mirror (19 September), Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs are eyeing moves for Toney in January after he netted 21 goals in 35 appearances last season.

The England international has opened the door to an Emirates Stadium move in recent weeks, claiming “I’ve liked watching Arsenal and how they play and how passionate their fans are” when asked about a potential next club.

Meanwhile, speaking on Sky Sports (18 September), Brentford boss Thomas Frank has admitted Toney could leave the club “for the right price”.

Frank claimed he is expecting offers for the England international in January ahead of his return to competitive action on 17 January.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I don’t think there’s a place for him in that Arsenal side.

“They’ve already got Nketiah and Jesus.

“The teams that suit him the most are Chelsea or Tottenham.

“At Chelsea, Jackson isn’t good enough. He couldn’t trap a bag of cement.

“He’d fit right in at Spurs. They’re crying out for someone to finish their chances at the moment.

“I think he’ll have his pick of clubs, except from Man City, Man United and Arsenal.

“Those three teams are sorted going forward.”
