Aaron Ramsdale tipped to quit Arsenal after new development - Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Aaron Ramsdale is now the second-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal and will push for an exit.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old will miss out on the England squad for next year’s European Championships if he is not playing.

Ramsdale was replaced in the starting lineup by summer signing Raya for the 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday (17 September).

The Spaniard kept his place for the 4-0 thrashing of PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday (20 September).

Speaking before the European clash (19 September), Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insisted he will rotate the two keepers throughout the 2023-24 season and doesn’t have a first-choice shot-stopper.

Raya was signed on a loan-to-buy basis from Brentford in the summer window.

Ramsdale, who signed a new contract in May running until June 2026, has been at the Emirates Stadium since the summer of 2021.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I don’t see goalkeepers at Ramsdale’s age accepting being number two.

“He’s going to have to move because Raya will be the number one from now on.

“Henderson had to move from Man United, and this is the same.

“It’ll be frustrating for Ramsdale because he hasn’t made any real mistakes in an Arsenal shirt.

“He’ll be thinking ‘How’s this happened?’

“Out of nowhere, he’s lost his shirt.

“If he’s not playing, and Pickford, Henderson, Johnstone all are – he could miss out on the Euros.”
