Agbonlahor issues 'definite' Everton relegation verdict after what he's seen from Beto

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Everton will “definitely” survive relegation this season with Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to prove key for Sean Dyche’s side.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Toffees must “have a go against the lesser sides” and feed the forward duo with chances.

Everton recorded their first win of the season against Brentford on Saturday (23 September), with Calvert-Lewin, James Tarkowski and Abdoulaye Doucoure on the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory.

The Toffees sit 15th in the table having picked up four points from their opening six games.

Sean Dyche’s side face strugglers Luton Town in their next Premier League clash on Saturday (30 September).

Beto is yet to score a league goal since arriving for a reported £25.75million in the summer window, while Calvert-Lewin’s goal against Brentford was his first of the 2023-24 campaign.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think those two strikers, Beto and Calvert-Lewin, can turn things around for Everton.

“I think they’ll be fine this season in terms of surviving relegation.

“They just need more bodies around them.

“Against Arsenal, the midfield was a bit more reserved with Onana, Doucoure and Gueye all in there – but against the lesser teams they can really have a go.

“McNeil, Danjuma, Garner can come in.

“I think they’ll stay up. They will be in the bottom six, but they’ll definitely stay up, no doubt about it.

“Going forward they’ll be fine with those two players.”
