Tottenham news: Pundit shares 'huge' Djed Spence prediction after 'big' update
Djed Spence’s loan move to Stade Rennais could be the first step in his journey to becoming a star player for Tottenham.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s latest move.
Spence, 22, joined Stade Rennais on deadline day (31 January) after failing to impress Antonio Conte during the first half of the season.
The right-back failed to start a game for Spurs during the first half of the season and was limited to cameo appearances in the Premier League.
However, he started for Rennes at the first available opportunity, playing 84 minutes in a 3-1 loss to Lille on Saturday (4 February).
McManus claims the loan move could be the making of Spence.

“We are seeing young English players move across to France and Germany more and more,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“How many times in recent years have you seen a young English player make a name for themselves then get a move to the Premier League?
“Or how many players have you seen go there on loan then come back and have a huge impact at their Premier League club?
“I’m not saying it will definitely happen for Spence but I think it could. It’s a big risk to go over there but the kid has so much talent, we all saw that when he played for Forest.
“I’m not sure why he didn’t play in the first half of the season, especially when his competition was so poor.
“I think we will see a different player when he comes back.”
