Pundit issues David Moyes ‘victim’ claim at West Ham after £171m reveal
David Moyes has “become a victim” of his own summer spending this season and finds himself under huge pressure at West Ham as a result.
That is the view of former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the looming sack rumours surrounding Moyes this season.
The Hammers are currently 17th in the Premier League and are only clear of the relegation zone due to their goal difference.
Football Insider sources revealed last Wednesday (8 March) that Moyes still has the backing of his dressing room despite the poor results this season.
The London club have struggled domestically this season, winning only six of their 26 league games so far in 2022/23.
This comes despite the club spending £171million on new signings in the summer, with Moyes introducing the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and Nayef Aguerd to his dressing room.

McManus believes the spending on “big players” has raised expectations at the London Stadium and therefore piled even more pressure on Moyes to perform.
“I do think West Ham should stick with David Moyes,” McManus told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“He has been under pressure basically the whole season and I think he deserves loyalty after his brilliant results over the last couple of seasons with very little budget.
“If anything, he has become a victim of the summer spending.
“He didn’t have much to spend in previous seasons but brought in a couple of big players this summer.
“The problem with that is it brings high expectations, and ones that Moyes hasn’t yet been able to reach.“
