West Ham 'itching' to sack David Moyes amid 'incredible' claim - pundit

David Moyes is under ‘huge pressure’ at West Ham and the board will have ‘itchy fingers’ over sacking him.

That is the opinion of former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Moyes’ uncertain future at the London Stadium.

The Hammers sit 14th in the Premier League table but remain just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Moyes’ side responded to a heavy 5-1 home defeat to Newcastle with a crucial 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday afternoon, but the Irons still remain in a relegation fight with matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Man United still to play this season.

West Ham are also still competing on a European front in the Europa Conference League, with Gent their opponents in the two-legged quarter-final clash.

McManus believes the money at stake to stay in the Premier League is so incredible that the West Ham board will be thinking about sacking Moyes.

I do think Moyes is under huge pressure, mostly because the money at stake to stay in the Premier League is incredible,” McManus told Football Insider.

He has done a fantastic job overall, he really has.

They’ve even had a good run in Europe this season, but the Newcastle loss was absolutely dreadful.

They defended so poorly and looked so unorganised which is unlike a usual West Ham side.

“They’re usually very organised and resolute but they had a nightmare in that match.

So I do think the board will have itchy fingers over Moyes’ future.
