Exclusive: Norwich City agree new contract with 2016 signing

Goalkeeper Jon McCracken has agreed to sign a new contract at Norwich City, Football Insider understands.

The 20-year-old arrived at Carrow Road back in 2016 from Hamilton Academical and has established himself as a regular among the under-23s in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.

A source at the Canaries has told Football Insider that the Scotland youth international has agreed terms on a new deal which will keep him tied down until the summer of 2022.

The shot-stopper has already put pen to paper once this year, having signed a one-year contract extension back in July when his previous terms were set to expire this summer.

The half-brother of former Formula One driver Paul Di Resta, McCracken struggled with back problems last year and was kept from playing football for the entire 2019/20 campaign.

While he is yet to make his first-team debut for the Canaries, the promising keeper did feature as an unused substitute in the League Cup defeat to Luton Town back in September.

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has the likes of Netherlands international Tim Krul, Northern Ireland star Michael McGovern and teenage prospect Daniel Barden to call upon between the sticks.

The Dutch stopper, who has been the Canaries’ first-choice keeper since joining on a free transfer back in 2018, is currently out of action with a thigh injury picked up in late November.

McGovern has deputised for the former Newcastle United and Brighton man, while Barden, who started the League Cup loss versus Luton, has been promoted to the bench.
