The 39-year-old took charge of the U’s back in May 2019 and finished 14th in his first full campaign in charge.
Regarded as one of the brightest young managers in the country, Gray has managed to guide the club into the hunt for a place in the Football League next season.
The club currently sit third in the National League table and could go top if they win their games in hand over promotion rivals Torquay and Hartlepool.

In stark contrast, Curle has left Sixfields with Northampton struggling at the foot of the League One table.
The Cobblers currently sit 23rd, five points ahead of basement club Burton Albion and level on points with Bristol Rovers, Wigan Athletic and Swindon Town in their fight for survival.
Curle’s last match in charge ended in a 1-0 defeat to the Latics on Tuesday evening, with Northampton’s winless run now stretching back seven games.
It is understood the League One side have been impressed by Gray’s work at Sutton this term and are considering making an approach for his services.
